Biography
Alexander Rio Farstadvoll is a Norwegian Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt and one of the top competitive grapplers produced by Frontline Academy in Oslo. Training under the guidance of Eduardo "Teta" Rios, Rio developed into one of Frontline's most reliable competitors on the Scandinavian tournament circuit.
Rio began competing in BJJ through Frontline Academy Oslo-HQ, making his mark at the Nordic BJJ Open and Swedish Open from 2015 onward. He progressed steadily through the belt ranks -- competing as a purple belt in 2017 at events including the Oslo Summer Open and Nordic BJJ Open, and advancing to brown belt by 2018 when he competed at the Swedish Open. He also represented Frontline at IBJJF European Championships and the Rome International Open, where he reached the podium.
As a product of the Frontline Academy system built by Eduardo Rios, Rio is part of a generation of Norwegian grapplers that has helped establish Scandinavia as a serious force in international BJJ competition. His lineage traces through Rios back to Ricardo Liborio, Carlson Gracie, and the roots of Brazilian jiu-jitsu.
