Biography
Carl-Axel Bakke-Erichsen, born in 1980, trains as a purple belt at OXY Gym Sandnes under Felipe 'Gargamel' Mota, but his broader contribution to Norwegian BJJ is recorded in conversations rather than competition results. He is the creator and host of Bolten BJJ Podcast, Norway's principal dedicated BJJ-history podcast.
His interview list reads like a sketch of the country's pioneer generation: Trond Saksenvik, Devi Ahuja, Eivind Windsrygg, Margaret Aase, Felipe Mota, Marcelo Yogui and others. Each episode preserves a piece of the founding story of Norwegian jiu-jitsu that would otherwise live only in private memory.
In a sport whose history is rarely written down by anyone other than competitors, Bakke-Erichsen is effectively the country's oral-history archivist — the practitioner who decided to ask the early figures their stories before the chance had passed.
