Chatri Sityodtong was raised in Thailand and introduced to Muay Thai by his father, training as a child at the Sityodtong Gym in Pattaya under legendary trainer Kru Yodtong Senanan, who later named him one of only four global conservators of Sityodtong Muay Thai. After his family went bankrupt in the Asian Financial Crisis, he studied economics at Tufts University and earned an MBA from Harvard Business School, then worked in finance including as a managing director at Maverick Capital before founding his own hedge fund. He began Brazilian jiu-jitsu in 2005 under Renzo Gracie in New York, receiving his blue belt from Rafael 'Gordinho' Lima and purple belt from Leandro 'Brodinho' Issa under the Renzo banner, his brown belt in 2021, and his black belt from Renzo Gracie himself in 2024. He founded Evolve MMA in 2008 and ONE Championship in 2011, becoming the single most influential Thai personality in global martial arts.
