Biography
Eirin Cathrine Nygren is a Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt under Eduardo "Teta" Rios, representing Frontline Academy. Originally from Norway, she is widely regarded as one of the pioneering female competitors in Scandinavian BJJ. Nygren began her jiu-jitsu journey at Frontline Academy in Oslo, where she trained under Teta Rios and quickly established herself as an elite-level competitor. At brown belt, she achieved remarkable success on the international circuit, winning double gold at the IBJJF European Championship and claiming victory at the prestigious Copa Podio invitational. Her brown belt campaign also included competing at the 2014 IBJJF World Championship. In 2017, Rios promoted Nygren to black belt, making her one of the first Norwegian women to achieve this rank in BJJ. At black belt, she continued to compete at the highest level, earning a silver medal at the IBJJF World Master Championship as a runner-up. Beyond her competition career, Nygren has dedicated herself to growing the sport in Scandinavia. She now heads Frontline Orebro in Sweden, an affiliate of Frontline Academy, where she serves as the head instructor and continues to develop the next generation of grapplers in the region.
