Emil Andre Løvik spent seven years on the Norwegian national wrestling team before turning that base into a coaching and grappling career at Team Trondheim BJJ, where he is the academy's wrestling and MMA coach. The wrestling background shows up directly in the Trondheim mat culture: heavy top pressure, hard scrambles, a particular kind of resistance to being put on bottom.
As a purple belt he has won gold in both -88 kg advanced and advanced open at Team Trondheim BJJ events, alongside his coaching workload at the academy.
In Trondheim and the wider Trøndelag region — historically thinner on BJJ infrastructure than the south and west — Løvik is one of the central figures keeping a high-level grappling room operational, and one of the people responsible for the wrestling-first identity of the Team Trondheim programme.
