Gilberto Ferraz Bastos came out of GFTeam's Rio de Janeiro headquarters — the academy founded by Júlio César Pereira and known for some of the most aggressive top games in modern jiu-jitsu — and brought that style north. A 4th-degree black belt, he is the main instructor of GFTeam Norway, with academies in Stavanger and Sandefjord and a Telemark affiliate in Bø.
The footprint matters. While much of Norwegian BJJ is concentrated around the Oslo and Bergen corridors, Bastos's GFTeam network covers a different geography — Rogaland, Vestfold and Telemark — bringing serious black-belt instruction to towns that would otherwise have to drive several hours to find it.
His students have steadily appeared at the European IBJJF circuit and the Norwegian no-gi scene, giving GFTeam Norway a recognisable identity inside the country.
