Biography
Helena Crevar is an American grappler of Serbian descent and the first female athlete promoted to black belt by John Danaher, training at New Wave Jiu-Jitsu in Austin, Texas. At just 17, she became the youngest ADCC podium placer in history with a silver medal at the 2024 World Championship at -65 kg — a tournament where she also made history by executing the first-ever female heel hook submission in ADCC competition. She then won the CJI 2 women's tournament, claiming the $100,000 prize — the highest ever paid in women's grappling. In 2025, Crevar captured the WNO 145 lbs title and the IBJJF No-Gi World Championship, earning the #1 pound-for-pound ranking in women's no-gi grappling. Promoted to black belt by Danaher in June 2025, she was 18 years old.
