Meggie Ochoa rose through the Atos Jiu-Jitsu Philippines program founded by Ali Sulit, training under the Atos system led by Andre Galvao. She won IBJJF Worlds gold as a white belt in 2014 and defended at blue belt in 2015 and 2016, crowdfunding her early campaigns. She transitioned to the JJIF ju-jitsu circuit, winning world titles in 2018 and 2022 and Asian Games gold in 2022, and was promoted to BJJ black belt by the Atos Philippines heads in August 2022. Beyond competition she is a prominent advocate against child sexual abuse: in 2018 she founded Fight to Protect, a nonprofit that uses jiu-jitsu and self-defense training to support child survivors of abuse across the Philippines. She retired from the national team in 2025.
