Biography
Morten Josephson is a 4th-degree Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt and co-owner of Frontline Academy, Norway's largest BJJ organisation. He started training in 2002 and was promoted to black belt in 2008 by Eduardo "Teta" Rios — part of the first generation of Frontline black belts, alongside Nic Ruben Nikolaisen.
Together with Thomas Johannessen, Josephson played the decisive role in bringing Eduardo "Teta" Rios to settle permanently in Oslo around 2006-2007. That invitation reshaped Norwegian BJJ: a Carlson Gracie / Libório black belt and Brazilian Top Team veteran in residence in Oslo, building a competitive culture that has since produced world and European champions.
A qualified teacher by training, Josephson is known for the pedagogical clarity he brings to BJJ. He leads the academy's beginner programme and curriculum, ensuring newcomers build a strong technical foundation. He teaches all levels at Frontline's Majorstuen branch in Oslo, frequently runs seminars on topics like back control, and serves as analyst and commentator for the academy's in-house competitions and sparring sessions.
Beyond teaching, Josephson is one of three co-owners of Frontline Academy together with Trond Saksenvik and Nic Ruben Nikolaisen, helping run one of Northern Europe's most influential martial-arts organisations.
