Salla Simola (also listed in some official brackets as Salla Mari Simola) is a Finnish jiu-jitsu competitor and one of the most prominent grapplers to come out of the Nordic region. She received her black belt under Pedro Duarte and trains out of FinnFighters Gym in Finland, where she worked extensively with coach Miika Suvanto.
Her defining result came at the 2024 IBJJF No-Gi World Championship, where she won gold in the female adult black belt medium-heavyweight (71 kg) division. On her way to the title she defeated Kennedy Paige by straight ankle lock in the semifinal and beat Caitlin Huggins in the final, which was decided by disqualification after her opponent accumulated penalties for passivity. The win made her the first athlete from Finland to capture an IBJJF black belt World title.
Simola followed up in 2025 by winning gold at the IBJJF No-Gi European Championship in the female black belt 71 kg division, defeating Jessika Tortilla by inside heel hook in the semifinal and Ane Svendsen on points in the final.
Competing primarily in no-gi, Simola is regarded as a leading figure in Nordic women's grappling and one of the standout competitors representing Finland on the international IBJJF circuit.
