Seif-Eddine Houmine was born on 24 June 1988 in Oujda, Morocco, where he competed nationally in judo and rugby as a teenager. At 17 he moved to France for his studies and only encountered Brazilian jiu-jitsu at age 21, beginning under Jackson Paulo Jacinto before settling at the GF Team academy in Paris under Mathias Jardin and Zakaria Arhab, who promoted him to black belt in April 2018. Competing in the ultra-heavyweight division, he built a resume that included ACBJJ No-Gi World and European titles (2018) and multiple IBJJF European podiums. At the 2024 IBJJF World Championship he reached the ultra-heavyweight final; when finalist Yatan Bueno was later stripped for a doping violation, Houmine was elevated to world champion - making him the first Moroccan and first Frenchman to win an IBJJF black-belt world title, and the second African-born champion after Angola's Joao Roque. Though Moroccan by birth, he competes internationally representing France, reflecting his long-term training base in Paris.
