Biography
Simen Brunstad, born in 1989, is the daily leader and chairman of the board at Hadeland Kampsport, the Brandbu-based BJJ club that opened in early 2018 and trades on the Kimura Hadeland name. The room sits in the Kimura / Nova União affiliation, putting it inside one of Norway's best-developed competition pipelines.
His own competition record is the steady kind that builds an academy: nine medals across eight-plus years on the mat, including silver at the 2016 Oslo Open, silver at the 2016 IBJJF British Nationals, multiple placements at the Sande BJJ Cup and bronze at Nordic Open 2019. The medal pile is roughly equally split between domestic and international events.
In a Norwegian map where Kimura is most associated with Oslo, Gjøvik and a handful of urban rooms, Brunstad is the practitioner who put a credible Kimura presence in Brandbu — and then ran it.
