Biography
Vegard Arentz Randeberg (born 1994, Norway) is a Norwegian Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt and co-founder of Wulfing Academy, the training collective that helped propel Norwegian grappling onto the international stage. Together with Tommy Langaker and Espen Mathiesen, Randeberg forms what has become known as the Wulfing trio -- three athletes from Norway's west coast whose combined achievements represent one of the most remarkable stories in European BJJ.
Randeberg began training in BJJ as a teenager and first gained attention at the Stavanger Open in 2011, competing in the juvenile division -- the same tournament where he first met Langaker and Mathiesen. He trained under the Roger Gracie Academy banner in Norway, developing at OXY Gym in the Stavanger/Sandnes area under Felipe Mota.
As a competitor, Randeberg is known for his grinding, pressure-based style with an emphasis on top position and heavy guard passing. He won the IBJJF European Championship (2015 and 2019) and earned bronze medals at both the IBJJF European No-Gi Championship 2023 and the IBJJF World No-Gi Championship 2023 as a black belt in the heavyweight division. He also competed at the IBJJF Berlin International Open and numerous other European-level events.
Randeberg earned his black belt after an impressive performance and victory at the Iron Brown Belt competition, a prestigious invitational event for elite brown belts. The promotion was recognized by OXY Gym and the Roger Gracie Academy lineage.
In 2016, Randeberg, Langaker, and Mathiesen began training together regularly in Haugesund, forming what would become Wulfing Academy -- a name inspired by a Viking wolf clan. Despite coming from different academies (Randeberg from Roger Gracie, Langaker from Art of Jiu-Jitsu/Kimura, Mathiesen from Nova Uniao), the three shared an ambition to become black belt world champions and adopted training methodologies learned from elite gyms in Brazil and the United States. Around 2015, Randeberg had also co-founded Herjer MMA in Haugesund, temporarily pausing his MMA involvement to focus on the Wulfing collaboration.
While Langaker and Mathiesen often receive the most international attention, Randeberg has been an essential part of the Wulfing ecosystem -- as a training partner, co-founder, competitor, and instructor who has helped build the infrastructure for world-class grappling in western Norway.
