Vetle Lindeman came up on the Frontline Academy Oslo mat as a competitor under Eduardo "Teta" Rios, which puts his black belt squarely in the Carlson Gracie line that Rios carried into Norway. In 2014 he moved to Grimstad, taking that pedigree with him and starting the slower work of building serious BJJ on a coast that had very little of it.
He is now head instructor at Arendal BJJ, where alongside Richard Hansen he forms one of only two-black-belt coaching teams in the south of Norway. Twelve-plus years of veteran coaching have turned the room from a regional curiosity into a credible address for serious students on the Sørlandet coast.
Lindeman's role in the Norwegian story is the one rarely captured by medal tables: a Teta Rios black belt willing to leave Oslo, plant himself in a small city, and stay long enough for a scene to grow up around him.
