Xu Huaiqing is a Chinese grappler who trains out of Method MMA Shanghai (formerly Absolute MMA Shanghai). A brown belt under Kemal Akagunduz, he began training jiu-jitsu in 2018 and rose to become one of the sport's rare East Asian competitors at the ADCC level.
His breakthrough came at the 2024 ADCC Asia & Oceania Trials in Bangkok, Thailand, where he won gold in the -66kg division. In doing so he became the first Chinese national to win an ADCC Trials event, working through the bracket with submissions including a rear-naked choke and a guillotine to secure a place at the ADCC World Championship.
At the 2024 ADCC World Championship in Las Vegas, held that August, Xu opened against Brazilian standout Diogo Reis in the -66kg bracket. Reis submitted him with a D'arce choke at 3:38 of the first-round match, ending Xu's run at the world stage on his tournament debut.
Xu has continued to compete internationally. At the 2025 ADCC Asia & Oceania Trials he moved up in weight and took bronze at 77kg, confirming his standing as an active fixture in the Asia-Pacific no-gi scene and a notable example of Chinese representation among high-level ADCC competitors.
